Top open match angler with numerous open wins. very quiet angler when fishing who will also tell you everything you need to know on venues info and rigs.
Double 8
this pattern is designed to be fished overdepth for quality silvers which makes it superb for those windy days when a bait fished at dead depth. is not an option. Always use a size larger than you normally would in any depth of water. Ie 4' I would use 0.5gr. A bulk of 3-4 no 10s should be placed directly above a short hooklength, the rest of the shotting in the main bulk 10''-12'' above this. Plumb up carefully, you need the bulk above the hook length to be just touching bottom . Bites on this rig will usually be unmissable lifts, the buoyancy of the cane in the bristle will help exaggerate this lift. Works well with pellet and chopped worm .
Kuro
This is the first float out of my box when im fishing the margins, islands and the far bank of snakes as it is such a robust float. I use the 4x8 for depths under 18'' and the 4x10 upto 30''. shotting should be a simple spread bulk 8''-12'' inches from the hook. I always make these rigs up on 0.20 line so I can fish direct in snaggy pegs or an 0.16-0.18 hooklength in pegs clear of snags, best fished with corn, meat and pellet
Breenie
this pattern will be popular with anglers who regulary fish for silvers on commercials.
A very good on the drop float fishing with maggot and caster for roach. Equally effective pellet fishing for skimmers on calm conditions. For this purpose I will use the lightest size I can, i.e. 4x12s in water up to 5-6ft deep with a spread bulk directly above the hook length so I can see every indication.
Ghost
I always use this pattern in conjunction with the Breenie pattern in case condition take a turn for the worse as the fuller body shape and long glass stem make it more stable in rougher conditions. For maggot and caster fishing my shotting pattern will be a bulk and 3 droppers, and for pellet work the same shotting as the Breenie but for a slightly larger float of 0.4
